Discover How To Maintain Your Commercial Refrigerator

Blog

It's important for you to keep up with commercial refrigerator maintenance in order to keep it nice, sanitary, and long-lasting. This really isn't something you want to put off. If you have slacked on commercial refrigerator maintenance for a while but would like to turn that around, you will need to spend a little time going over the following helpful tips:

Weekly Interior Cleaning

You have to make sure that any food or drinks that spoil or are about to spoil in the commercial refrigerator are removed. You do not want to risk serving anything that's rotten to a customer. They could become sick and depending on the seriousness of the sickness, they could end up seeking compensation to cover their medical bills. You would also risk your reputation. This is why it's so important to completely clean out the commercial refrigerator once a week. Remove everything from the refrigerator and move it to another cooler. Thoroughly clean and disinfect the inside of the refrigerator. Once it's dried, you can put back all of the food and drinks that still have plenty of time before they go bad.

Clean The Condenser Coil

This is something that should be done every couple of months. If it's not done often enough, the dust buildup can cause the unit to overheat, which could cause the need for repairs or cause you to need a replacement. Make sure that you are turning off the commercial refrigerator by unplugging it from the outlet. This task should only take a few minutes so you shouldn't have to worry about moving refrigerated contents. Just make sure that the doors stay closed until you're done. Use a soft bristle brush and a little warm water to remove the dust buildup on the condenser coil, which is usually located on the backside of the refrigerator.

If you have trouble finding the time to tackle commercial refrigerator maintenance, you can always find a laborer or technician to complete the work for you. Just make sure that they are insured and can get the work done in a timely manner. This way, you won't have to worry too much about the staff not being able to easily work or grab the things they need. It might be best to have the contractor come in for maintenance before or after your normal business hours.
